Day 128 – Framed…

Woke up quite late… Spent most of the day being annoyed at my phone… No seriously, from late morning till early evening I was actually annoyed at phone, it’s current content and it’s apparent complete inability to act as a gatekeeper for my currently fragile psyche… I finally snapped and gave it a talking too… Uncorking my bottle as it were… I am sure it will fit me up later, and things that I said will be used against me… It’s a fair cop gov? More like keeping schtum and call my brief…

Speaking of frame ups… Late 19th – Early 20th century large frame with original convex glass… With original photo of child on a rocking horse… It’s creepy and it’s kooky, and altogether my kind of thing…

Day 114 – Take a Long Line…

One comes in one goes out, tonight I purchased a new tv unit… 3 meters long…

My continuing obsession with low furniture and clean lines continues, I think painting the metal satin black and replacing the metal panels with lacquered ply will give it a more midcentury feel… Which means the more industrial eclectic school science desk will be leaving to make room…

DAY 57 – THE RABBIT HOLE….

This is my rabbit hole, the place were I can scamper off to when I need to get my head in a more creative place, without the distractions of washing up and rampaging children…I even managed to wire up the light fitting, by cannibalising an extension lead… This will be the only room in the house that gets to stay in this “hobbit” eclectic style, but since it very small (200cm by 160cm), and it is separate to the rest of the house, so it can remain a cosy, cluttered space…

Of course there will be a few tweaks, a couple more pictures on the wall and a wire or two across the wall to hang current projects on… Hopefully it will fulfil its purpose, and create a flurry of creativity…

Day 50 – It bends in the middle…

Imagine an old time carnival, now imagine a carousel, now replace the beautifully painted wooden horses with furniture…. Welcome to my world of revolving furniture…

Last week I moved my computer to a more function desk, which meant temporarily moving the 1900s farmhouse table, that I was using as a desk out onto the verandah till I could find somewhere else for it… Cue a week of misty rain and damp… I know have somewhere to put the table, but I also now have a table with a bowed top…

photo-237

So today I moved the table back inside and piled it high with large art books and cast iron shoe lasts…

photo-236

Hopefully it will flatten out… Because I have zero desire to remove the top, brace it, glue it and spend two days doing a job that shouldn’t need to be done…

PS – If I seem to be making the blog version of small talk at the moment it either means things are going well, or very badly…. Either way I am not ready to talk about it….

Day 14 – Carved with Love….

If you were like me at school, on the rare occasions you did show up, you spent a bit of time using a compass for its primary purpose… Carving things into school desks, and occasionally jabbing people… I spent quiet a bit of time in school sanding down desks, the standard punishment for defacing school property… I never really understood the the point, it just seemed like I was preparing fresh canvases for the next time I was bored in class… So when you pick up an old school drawing board for a couple of dollars, there is a wonder sense of nostalgia as you sand down the ancient ACDC and metal up your ass logos carved into the top.. I even sanded over the long lost declarations of puppy love, JK 4 EVA…

photo-122

I wonder if they did? If my own teenage scratches are anything to go by, then no… Seems girls didn’t really appreciate my rudimentary graffiti for the grand romantic gesture that it was…

photo 1-9

So getting on board with the whole creative learn new skills thing, I have spent sometime defacing my newly sanded drawing board… Seems carving is not as easy as it looks… but not bad for a first attempt as they say…

photo 2-8

I might just leave the board were I have my coffee, and carve a bit more into it, as drink… Seems like a nice way to whittle away the time….
