Stone Age Kindle and some Jars…..

Another $6 day at the op-shops today… Just jars… Which is ok because I have been thinking of what to do with the top of the kitchen cupboards… and jars with things seems like a good idea…

A box full of old fowler preserving jars… with rusty lids… The old ones are better than the new versions… nice straight sides and raised glass lettering and model numbers on the glass are much more tactile… I also scored a mason jar in the box which I can do something else with… maybe sit on the porch and drink moonshine from it….

So not much on the op-shop front… but I did start work on carving some books today…. perfect for that outdoor library maybe?

btw i’ve started saying op-shop and it’s going over pretty well. i may just change the vernacular around here! what are the books carved from, wood??

I think Opportunity Shop (Op-Shop) is much better than thrift… Thrift sounds like you are being cheap ๐Ÿ˜‰ where op-shopping sounds creative ๐Ÿ™‚

and the books are being made from light weight aerated concrete… Carves like a cross between sandstone and plaster…

those jars look great lined up in your image. or- have you seen those great chandeliers made of jars? each one has it’s own bulb / wire and they are hung together? i think you could repurpose these…

Preserving jars don’t have screw lids… so it would be tricky….

have you seen those expandible galleries – they fit any size apperture, and you can use LEDs in them. kind of expensive, but worth it for a project like this.

I am doing a bit of looking about into a budget option… It is more of a mood lighting option fro the kitchen at night…. I need some food colouring and a florescent light fitting… I will probably try three things before I am happy with it and do a post ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I nominate “maybe sit on the porch and drink moonshine from itโ€ฆ.”
